Dr. and Mrs. Rogers later had three children named David, Gayle, and Michael. They are the proud grandparents of Madeleine Rogers.

Upon graduation, Dr. Ricky worked as an associate veterinarian for his old mentors, Dr. John Harper and Dr. J.D. Carroll of Carroll and Harper Animal Hospital in Corsicana. In over 40 years of practice, Dr. Ricky has treated all types of animals, including dogs, cats, cattle, horses, swine, sheep, goats, tigers, and once an elephant with a toe abscess when a traveling circus stopped for a visit. Dr. Ricky has always had a particular interest in treating and preventing Bovine Respiratory Disease in stocker calves. He has spent years developing and perfecting custom respiratory vaccines and treatment protocols for stocker and feeder cattle. Through word of mouth referrals across the state, client loyalty keeps Dr. Ricky very busy traveling to consult for over 200 cattle producers in Texas, Tennessee, and Mississippi, where he is also a licensed veterinarian. However, Dr. Ricky continues to work here locally and can be reached by any client that needs personal attention. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association.
